This project involved building a WordPress website for SOLSARC with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusivity. The website was designed to serve as a public-facing platform for sharing the organisation’s mission, initiatives, and ongoing work, while also supporting regular publishing through a blog section. A key requirement was ensuring that the website could be comfortably used by people with disabilities, making inclusivity a core part of the digital experience rather than an afterthought.
The biggest challenge was designing a website that works equally well for users with different accessibility needs while still supporting rich content and regular updates. The site needed to remain easy to navigate, readable, and consistent even as new blog content is added over time. Implementing accessibility tools within a WordPress environment, without affecting performance or usability for other users, required careful planning and testing.
We developed an accessibility-aware WordPress website with built-in tools that allow users to adjust how they interact with the site based on their needs. Page layouts and blog templates were designed with clear hierarchy, spacing, and readability in mind. The content structure ensures that both static pages and blog posts remain organised and easy to explore. The result is a platform that supports inclusive access, ongoing content publishing, and long-term scalability for the organisation. .
